Nice car, but those non-hub-centric E39 have to go.

What purpose?

I’ve been casually looking for an E28 for a few months. Fun third car.

Better idea: find one that isn’t a basket case full of rust and 200% overpriced simply by being listed on BaT.

what’s the worst that can happen?

Really think $2-3k is 200% overpriced? I haven't seen many that look as clean as this does for $1-1.5k. I definitely has some rust, but from what I have seen this is in the right market range.

It’s rotting out. There’s obvious fluid leaks. The suspension is full of junkyard pulls. There’s clear evidence of shoddy electrical repair. All the rubber is shot (meaning more water intrusion and rust.)

Its like you are my guardian angel....first the tips on repainting my burb, now this...thanks. Proof you can start to lose focus when you have been looking for a while.

Saving people from their own mistakes is what I do. Leaves more for me to make mistakes with. (So, so many little things to do on the WK.)

Auction ended at 4500 with reserve not met. Definitely higher than I would have gone anyway.
This one on CL in Austin though....might text on Friday to see if it is still available.

Ding ding ding! And this is why BaT needs to die. Being sold by a dealer, with a reserve more than 2.5x what the car is worth, and they got people to bid it up to well past double it’s actual value.
With all those shitty mods though, I would be REAL concerned about that one on CL, especially the fresh paint and all the disclosed mechanical maladies. Those are NOT minor issues (and Dallas is not a fucking road trip. I mean it’s 4 hours because I35 but it’s NOT A ROAD TRIP.)

Definitely wouldn’t touch the CL one without a PPI, maybe at Terry Saythers shop.
I’m continually confused why I see more E28s on Dallas and Austin CL than Houston, where I would think the sheer numbers would work in my favor.

THANK YOU. I could not fucking remember the name of the shop for the life of me!

Not being sarcastic here - did you not know the name or were you being sarcastic in your last comment?
The reason I’m asking is that Terry Sayther was the listing dealer on the BaT auction. That is how I remembered the name. Growing up in the Austin area I definitely knew of the shop and it had a very good reputation (at the time).
